Etta Place

Southern Utah Hand-Crafted Hard Cider

We are an orchard based cidery located at 7000’ in the heart of Utah’s red rock country near Capitol Reef National Park. We planted the first of 500 traditional cider and other heritage apple trees in 2012. We now grow over 80 cultivars as well as peaches, cherries and cider pears.

We create ciders to showcase the quality of fruit we grow, like our award-winning rosé cider from our own red-fleshed apples. By building on the legacy of Utah pioneers who grew apples in historic Fruita and employing a modern approach to cidermaking, Etta Place Cider is creating a new standard for craft beverages in Utah.

Reviews:

We stopped in for a tasting and really enjoyed Etta. The owners were friendly and knowledgeable, the store was well stocked with all kinds of gifts and foods, and most importantly the cider was delicious! Highly recommend a stop. – Alyssa Kilmurray, Google Review

Did the tour and tasting. In addition to picking up the ciders that they have in stock (which are now available in Utah liquor stores via special orders), it was great to hear about what’s to come and learn a little about the process involved in turning apples into cider. The Cidery and store are located in beautiful country near Capitol Reef National Park, in Torrey, Utah. Ann and Robert explain everything really well and it was well worth the trip. – Ruben Schoenefeld, Google Review

If you’re in the area for Capitol Reef, do yourself a favor and take a stop at this lovely cidery. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the cider is eve more delightful. If able, try the barrel-aged batch! We took home as much cider as we could carry, and will be back for more! 10/10, would recommend to a friend. – Peter Nilmos, Google Review

Our story begins with a bite from an apple unlike any we had ever tasted. In 2010, we had bought some land in Torrey and we were exploring the nearby orchards of Fruita in Capitol Reef National Park. Robert sampled a Golden Delicious, tree-ripened and bursting with flavor. That eye opening experience led us to take part in an apple tasting of varieties grown at Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello. We did our research and started planting apples on our soon-to-be homestead.

We still weren’t planning to make cider until a cider-making friend said “why would you let anyone else make cider from YOUR apples? You have the fruit everyone wants!” And we realized he was right, why would we let anyone else have all the fun? So we opened our cidery in 2021, nine years after planting our first trees.
