Tree Street Grains

Whole Grain Mixes

Named for the area where we live in Provo, Tree Street Grains is a local, family-owned business that makes whole grain mixes for breads, pancakes and muffins. We are truly local, from the locally-grown grain to the product labels that we designed and home and have printed here in Utah. You’ll recognize our packaging by my wife’s artwork.

In fact, we make the 16-grain stone-ground whole grain pancake mix our my garage. It contains 100 percent freshly-milled whole grains fortified with lots of flax, and it has no artificial ingredients or preservatives. It’s good for your family, and it just tastes great.

The whole grain gluten free products are made in a dedicated gluten free facility that I call my basement. These gluten free mixes contain more than 11 percent fiber and protein and contain no white rice or added starches. These mixes not only provide a practical solution, but they taste great. You can pick up a packet at a number of Utah grocery stores.

When I retired as a professor of agricultural economics, I wanted to, among other things, learn to make bread. It started with Ezekiel Bread (made from wheat, barley, spelt, millet, beans and lentils) and grew to 16-grain bread. Then, I made my first pancake mix, and it went over so well among friends and family that we started selling it at a local farmer’s market.

In the middle of a sleepless night, I lay thinking about how several of the 16 grains do not have gluten in them. I was excited to make a gluten free mix that tasted great. We now sell our products at several retail locations and online. We still operate as a home-based business regulated and licensed by the Department of Agriculture and Food.

Tree Street Grains was acquired by Vivian’s Live Again in 2018.
