Faircrest Farms

Ogden-based urban regenerative produce farm

Nestled in Ogden, Faircrest Farms is a pioneering urban farm dedicated to producing the highest-quality organic produce through permaculture principles. Despite operating on less than half an acre, our farm exemplifies sustainability with practices such as Biodynamic® and Bio-Intensive® farming. Our mission is twofold: to cultivate exceptional vegetables and fruits while fostering a vibrant, local food community and mentoring the next generation of urban farmers.

We envision Faircrest Farms as one of Utah’s most productive and picturesque growing spaces. Our farm is designed not only to produce top-tier produce but also to be a community hub where people can engage with and learn about sustainable gardening. We are committed to incorporating cutting-edge farming technologies to maximize our growing-bed productivity and deliver unparalleled quality.

Our weekly Harvest Newsletter keeps customers informed about our offerings, available at our on-farm market every Wednesday evening and Saturday morning. Looking ahead, as we establish year-round production, Faircrest Farms plans to extend our reach to local restaurants and grocery stores, further integrating our farm into the Ogden community.

Karl & Rita Ebeling
Farmers

Since July 2022, Farmer Karl and Rita Ebeling have been dedicated to providing the Ogden community with fresh, organic produce through Faircrest Farms.

Karl’s passion for gardening began in early childhood. Growing up just three miles from the Rodale Institute, he was captivated by Organic Gardening magazines from a young age. His teenage years were spent working on his grandfather’s farm, “Faircrest Farm,” nestled in the picturesque hills of Berks County, PA. There, amidst the rich agricultural traditions of Amish country, Karl developed a deep-seated love for growing food and cultivating beauty.

In 2020, Karl and Rita completed an intensive 14-day Permaculture Design Course, further solidifying their commitment to sustainable farming. The following year, Karl gained invaluable experience working as an assistant farmer at Wasatch Community Gardens “Green Phoenix Farm” under the guidance of Farm Director James Loomis. This role expanded his expertise and deepened his understanding of organic farming practices.

Karl is committed to continuous learning and growth, actively seeking knowledge from local farmers, books, and podcasts to refine his farming skills. His dedication extends beyond Faircrest Farms; he actively supports Eden Streets, a non-profit that designs and operates urban farms to relaunch lives. Eden Streets empowers communities to grow food, jobs, connections, and hope through farming. Their recent initiative, Grow Ogden, is a farm-based job-training program that supports marginalized individuals through transitional employment.

Karl and Rita are passionate about cultivating not only high-quality produce but also a sense of community and purpose through their work.
