Whutz

A Different Kind of Snack

So many people asked “what’s this” as we were testing the market with this product the name stuck as simply “Whutz.” So what’s Whutz? Our snacks are made from whole grains of wheat and rice “popped” into a very unique and satisfying snack. These deliver a great crunch with tasty options both sweet and savory. If you want to “mix it up” a bit these are very fun to add into you ice cream, yogurts, or even salads to add texture and substance. Whutz loves to bring smiles to the consumers. Both young and old enjoy these snacks as it brings a new way to enjoy benefits of whole grains. Whutz also believes in building strong foundations with other local artisans to help our local “vibe” of creativity and economy.

Back in the 1960s, our founder’s father learned a simple but special trick for turning wheat into a delicious, crunchy, and satisfying snack—what many came to know as “wheat nuts.” After the family moved to Colorado, he continued to refine the craft, producing these wheat snacks and finding ways to share them with others. The tricks of the trade were passed down to the next generation, with the goal of fulfilling dreams first formed over fifty years ago in a Salt Lake City kitchen.

Fast forward to 2024, and Whutz was officially formed—bringing back a beloved treat that has its roots right here in the Mountain West. We’ve been thrilled to reconnect with fans who remember these snacks from their childhood, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see the smiles of nostalgia they bring. At the same time, Whutz is creating a whole new generation of local fans who simply love great-tasting snacks.

We’re excited to be part of Utah’s Own, and we’re committed to using local influences and producers whenever possible—including wheat grains grown right here in Utah. As we introduce Whutz to more local consumers, our goal is to grow not only our brand, but also to support the friends, farmers, and suppliers who make it all possible.
