Prin Ya Custard

Prin-Ya Custard introduces Japanese style custard desserts to Salt Lake City.

Familiarly known as a flan in the U. S., baked custard tastes a bit different in Japan, where the owner grew up, and she decided to share the silky texture and gentle sweetness to the community.

While baked custard is the original idea of this business, we also wanted to cater to vegan and lactose intolerant population, and after months of experiment with recipes, we created a perfect plant-base creamy dessert that is our Vegan Custard, and it became popular with everyone: vegan or non-vegan.

Prin-Ya Custard believes in synergistic community and “buy local” movement. Our ingredients are locally sourced when possible.

In efforts to reduce waste and plastic pollution, Prin-Ya custards come in reusable glass jars, and empty jars are collected regularly at several locations.

Delicious custards, that won’t leave you feeling heavy, and they have vegan options as well. I met the owner outside of the Jade Market, who explained several options that I would probably like. – William Painter, Facebook Review

Petra’s Backstubchen LLC

Petra Waltraud Lauxen Vigil was raised in a small town in Germany called Kliding. As a young child, she enjoyed watching her mother bake. Through observation and direct instruction, she learned the basics of cooking, which turned in to a passion for baking.

When Petra was 18 years old, she purchased her first baking book, which she still uses today for several of her recipes. She has always
enjoyed baking for family and friends, and always had a strong desire to own her own bakery.

Petra started selling her baked goods at local Farmer’s Markets and can still be found there every weekend. Her baked goods can also be found in some grocery stores, or you can order directly from her online.

Miss Essie’s Southern BBQ

Miss Essie’s Southern BBQ sauce is a 100-year old recipe of pure authentic southern excellence. Originated in Arkansas by Miss Essie’s father, this BBQ sauce was a close kept family secret that Miss Essie passed onto her son Manuel Jones with hopes that he would continue the tradition of making this authentic BBQ tradition. Our products contain only the best homegrown ingredients available. Miss Essie believed her authentic BBQ sauce and home cooked BBQ meals were a part of the foundation that kept her family happy, friends and neighbors at her table eating. She cherished the BBQ-filled smiles that come along with good food, love and happiness.
